Wild Pacific Trail

A week after we arrived to Surf Grove we headed down to Ucluelet and the Wild Pacific Trail. It's a nice loop trail that we did back in 2018 as well but knew it would take a few hours and would be much better if it was a nice day. A nice day here is any day that isn't raining.

Ucluelet is the other town out here - it's a 1/2 drive south. We like both Tofino and Ucluelet for different reasons - it's nice that they are unique in their own way. Also, Ucluelet is the only place that has a pet store out here and so we were also wanting to see what they had to offer.

The trail starts in the forest but quickly leads to a nice viewpoint of the ocean.

Derek and Cassia always like to get a closer look.

This photo is from 2018 - a little info about the lighthouse.

Derek and Cassia back from their adventure to an Island.

Nice too that the trail winds through the forest.

Jan 2019 Cassia

The trail takes us a few hours as we stop a few times along the way. After that we headed to Ucluelet to look around and have some lunch. Sorry no pics!

A few days later we took a trail just off of our beach. We call it the boardwalk - for obvious reasons. From Cox Bay Beach this trail begins behind the Pacific Sands hotel and takes us out to the rocks.

Again, nice to walking in the forest.

With quite a few plaques about the local flora and fauna.

From here we get a better view of the crashing waves.

Looking towards Chesterman Beach.

Cassia came up behind me to scare me but I was on to her!

Heading back to our Park - nice and quiet on a Sunday afternoon.

Back in 2019 we were much warmer at Pedernales Falls State Park in Texas.

It was cold water though!

The falls area is amazing! We were glad to have visited this park when we had the chance!

It's hard to believe that our hike along the Wild Pacific Trail was already a month ago! Time is flying here on the West Coast.

Next time we'll post our pictures of how our beach looked and the things we found when the tide was wayyyyy out!

Until then,

Teresa
