Englishman River Falls Provincial Park

After a few days at Coombs we were all anxious to get outside to explore.

Lucky for us Englishman River Falls Provincial Park was near by and one of the places we wanted to get to as we'd never been to this park before.

We were pleasantly surprised - it is a nice drive out to the park as well.

I see now that we - I mean Derek who was on photo duty since I had the dogs -  really didn't take too many photos. If I'm out of practice than he really is as he's rarely the photographer.

After all the time spending sitting in the truck the last few days it was good for the five of us to get

out on a trail!

It didn't hurt that the trail was in a very beautiful Vancouver Island location.

The Happy Huskies.

And the Happy Child - Cassia loves these types of hikes - the more rugged the better.

It's always fun to find the unexpected isn't it?

Looking down ..... way down.

The main falls.

A Wood Clan selfie at the falls.

Looking up at the bridge we were just on.

And so that was our morning out at Englishman River Falls.

Meanwhile .... this day in history ........

In 2018 we came to the Island for the winter for the first time. This was December 1st and we had just arrived at Pacific Playground on the east side of the Island.

Beside the Park there is a trail to the beach.

And a day later we were fortunate to have this kind of day.

Things were quite different in 2019. The Wood Clan returned to the USA for the winter after being away since 2015! Texas was our main destination.

This was the first time that we had been to this area and the Abilene State Park. We loved it and it quickly rose to one of our favourite places in the USA.

It was just after Thanksgiving and we had the place to ourselves.

Everything's bigger in Texas - right?!

No comment here .......

One of the reasons why we liked the area so much was the little town of Buffalo Gap - it reminded us a lot of Micanopy, Florida - another favourite.
This is a picture of the amazing shop Perini Ranch Country Market.

We are enjoying looking back at all these memories because looking out our window these days looks much different! For the last couple of days it's been raining with a rainfall warning of 100 - 200mm. We are okay here at the Park but there is a lot of flooding of roads in the area. Nice that we can reminisce about blue sky.

Next up is our trip over to Tofino where we are now! It's a crazy road and not one of my favourite things to do but the reward is huge!

See you then,
Teresa (with proof reader Cassia)
